Building teams, organizations, and cultures

Building & Scaling Teams

Building the right teams, capabilities, and structures to meet the needs of a growing business.

I've built and evolved multidisciplinary design organizations to support increasingly broad and complex product portfolios. That has meant looking beyond headcount—identifying the capabilities we need, putting the right leadership and team structures in place, and evolving the organization as the needs of our products and business change.

Earned an increasingly broad leadership remit year over year, integrating new teams, disciplines, and product areas while evolving structures and ways of working to support each expansion.

Multidisciplinary

Expanded beyond Product Design to build capabilities across User Research, UX Writing and Design Operations.

Growing Scope

Evolved team structures and ownership to support expanding scope, scale, and business needs.

Business Fluency

Built fluency across new brands, audiences and business models as they became part of my expanding remit.

ELEVATING DESIGN CRAFT

Creating a culture where great design comes from rigor, high standards, and diverse perspectives.

I’m known for setting a high bar for design craft and pushing teams to make the work stronger. I believe strong design organizations need more than talent - they need a culture that continually pushes the work forward. I set a high bar for craft while creating an environment where ideas are challenged, decisions are intentional, and different perspectives make the work stronger. The goal isn't simply to deliver what's asked, but to deeply understand the problem and create the best experience for the user.

I push teams to think beyond the immediate design and consider the full experience, questioning assumptions, anticipating use cases, and articulating the thinking behind their decisions.

RIGOR

Delivering the ask is the baseline. I expect teams to push further, raising the bar for craft, quality, and the experiences we put in front of our users.

HIGH STANDARDS

I intentionally build teams with different backgrounds, experiences, and points of view. Bringing those perspectives together helps us challenge assumptions and design for users who are equally varied.
