MAGNOLIA APP INTERACTIVE MAP

Explore the Silos in Waco, Texas, in a whole new way, with our Interactive Map feature, exclusively on the Magnolia App.
Magnolia is the lifestyle brand founded by Chip and Joanna Gaines. Magnolia expanded their brand to occupy a piece of Waco, Texas called “The Silos” - a sprawling space filled with home goods stores, boutique shops, restaurants, and a host of signature landmarks.
Attracting over one million visitors each year, the Silos property in Waco is the heartbeat of Magnolia, and with the introduction of this new experience, visitors can take advantage of an interactive map – making it easier than ever, for guests to fully immerse themselves in all the property offers.

I oversaw, directed and led the the user experience, user research and design.
I led my team to brainstorm and concept early prototypes, using augmented reality and QR codes with integrated interactions between digital features and physical locations at the Silos in Waco, Texas. My team and I pitched these early concepts to Magnolia’s executive leadership team, giving rise and creating the path to what would ultimately become the Silos Interactive Map.
I led my team through several user research studies to gather user expectations, examine map user behaviors and patterns, and usability test our designs.
I meticulously guided and directed our designers in the creation of our illustrative map to ensure that the texture, color, iconography and typography work in harmony, communicating contrast, density, legibility and hierarchy.
We worked with Mapbox studio to provide the technical foundation and framework for our interactive map.

Designed an intuitive, seamless, integrated Magnolia Account profile registration process in combination with a Magnolia Network subscription bundled with Discovery +
Responsible for the entire customer experience and design for the Direct to Consumer portfolio for Magnolia, a Joint Venture partnership between Discovery Inc. and Chip and Joanna Gaines.

Our NBC App has been recognized by Apple as a “Best in Class tvOS App” and selected to be featured in Apple’s universally recognized and widely popular Human Interface Guidelines (HIG).
The HIG is Apple’s primary reference guide for all developers and designers who create apps for any of Apple’s platforms and portfolio of products.

Oversaw and led the UX and UI for our NBC App redesign on the Apple TV platform. I directed the user experience and design, and I ensured the user interactions on the Apple TV remote control were in line with expected user behavior on the interface.
Our goal was to design a premium lean back user experience using fewer action points while still keeping the navigation patterns intuitive. Every user action on the remote corresponds to the interface on the app giving a clear visual reaction.
From elegant background color transitions to obvious focus states, our NBC App on Apple TV brings a modern and fresh experience and UI to the NBC Product family.
40+ Seasons. One App. I led the User Experience and Design for Saturday Night Live's first ever SNL App - celebrating 40+ seasons of television’s most iconic comedy show with access to thousands of sketches through a personalized, unique video experience - all presented through a clean, minimal and intuitive user experience and interface.

Developed a Voice User Interface Design for the AMAZON ECHO - ALEXA SKILL for NBC's hit shows TONIGHT SHOW: JIMMY FALLON & THE VOICE.
I led the VUI efforts and ensured that the VUI flow corresponds with our TONIGHT SHOW and VOICE audience users' mental & linguistic models.
I oversaw streamlining the command and response flows, helped to minimize prompts where possible, and incorporated mixed-initiative dialogs where useful.
I directed the dialogue sketches, experience flows and the interactions models.

The Official App for NBC's hit show, THE VOICE. I led the User Experience and Design for The Emmy® Nominated THE VOICE App. We let our users take control of the show through our app. We shift our viewers to users and take them on a digital journey along with the actual journey of the show. They are able to press their own buttons, and in essence, turn their chairs for the artists they like. They can play along in the Battle Rounds. Users can build their own teams, just like the coaches. They can instantly save artists from elimination. And users are ultimately choosing the winner of The Voice by voting in our app.

Relaunched and refreshed NBC's flagship App on iOS. I led the User Experience and Design. We introduced a cleaner interface, and a more optimal user experience. It's the same app that our users know and love, but with several improvements to help make their video viewing more delightful.
Oversaw and led the UX and UI redesign for the NBC App on the Android platform. We integrated Google Material Design principles with our NBC brand design language to create a native Android experience with a familiar brand interface.
To get ready for NBC's hit THE WIZ LIVE, we designed a "There's no place like ______. - meme generator. I led the UX and design. We kept it simple, focused and easy to use.
